Florianópolis

Capital of the state of Santa Catarina, one hour by plane from Rio de Janeiro and  São Paulo, Ilha da Magia (Magic Island), as it is known, is connected to the continent by three bridges, among which is the historical bridge "Hercílio Luz", the city´s most famous postcard. The city is divided into two portions of land: a small part is located on the continent and the rest is on the island of Florianópolis itself.

The natural beauties of  Floripa, as Brazilians affectionately call it, is its main attraction. Forty-two beaches of all types make of this retreat a sanctuary for sports, natural life and tourists from around the globe. The City of Florianópolis has a very peculiar weather, without dry season, with the weather changes depending on the movement of air masses. The predominant winds at the island are those from the northeast and south part, while the annual average temperature is 20.4°C.

Over the last years, on the day of the competition, there were moderate winds towards the North. The water temperature was around 24.5°C, and the air humidity came close to 55%.
